CAREY The first CAREY pattern was tied by Col. Carey, of Quesnel, B.C. in 1923. it was originally tied as an emerging sedge but is now considered to be an outstanding nymph pattern. The Carey Special is tied entirely of pheasant feathers (tail, body and hackle) The other Carey flies come in a multitude of colors and body materials from chenille to cotton and metallic threads, with pheasant feather or red marabou tails. It is important to have a complete assortment of carey flies. One morning trout will hit a green carey every time you drop it in the water and an hour later with a change in cloud cover, temperature, sun angle etc. they will not touch another green carey. Change to gold or red and you have them hooked again. If you want only one fly in your fly box the carey is the best all round trolling fly there is. Be sure to use the LIGHT TACKLE set up for the very best results. $1.25 each |
