LEECH Leech are an important food item for trout. There are about 45 freshwater species. They are mostly nocturnal but come out in the morning and evening. The leech has a slow snakelike swimming motion. The marabou of the tail gives some action to this leech pattern and the thick heavy hackle at the head streamlines the look of the leech fly as it is pulled through the water while trolling. Fish the leech in the early morning and from late afternoon to dusk and fairly close to shore. The slow trolling with LIGHT TACKLE is the best presentation for this leech fly pattern. Another option for this fly is to add a LAKE SPINNER on the line. $1.25 each |
